Sandy Cheeks SpongeBob Guide- An Underwater Squirrel

SpongeBob SquarePants is the cartoon that, even as an adult, I could binge-watch for hours but still wouldn’t have enough of. What makes SpongeBob so fun to watch? Apart from SpongeBob being a hilarious character, all the other characters in SpongeBob have unique personalities. Such as Mr. Krab and his love for money, Squidward, who only wants to spend his life in peace doing what he loves, and Patrick with his adventures under the rock.

Each of the series’s characters has a different place in our hearts. Similarly, in this article, I will be discussing SpongeBob’s best friend, Sandy. What makes Sandy so important? First, she is a squirrel living under the water in her Treedome. Secondly, she’s one of the main characters in the cartoon.

As a child, I admired Sandy because, unlike many other cartoons, Sandy was a female character who was stronger and more intelligent than the male characters in the series. She also inspired me to train harder, become stronger, and, most importantly, be a good friend.

Now it’s time to get started with our Sandy Cheeks character guide.

Bottom Line Upfront

Sandy Jennifer Olivia, mainly known as Sandy Cheeks, is amongst the ten main characters in SpongeBob SquarePants. Sandy is an American Squirrel. She is originally from the surface and lives in an air-filled treedome in Bikini Bottom.

Sandy Cheeks is an extraordinary Squirrel fond of playing sports and doing karate. Sandy is from Texas, which explains her Southern accent and fondness for Rodeos. Sandy works as a scientist, which is why she built her air suit, helmet, and treedome.

Oh, and, whatever you do, never bother Sandy when she is in her hibernation mode because, trust me, at that time, she is really not herself.

Background

Sandy Spongebob
Made up Characters – Wiki

Sandy is from Texas, USA, as told in the episode “Texas.” Sandy was born to Ma and Pa Cheeks. She has a twin brother named Randy Cheeks. At a young age, Sandy joined Master Kim’s Karate Camp and became a black belt in karate.

Sandy’s Texas descent is shown by her cowgirl features, such as using a southern accent and slang words such as “Y’all.” Moreover, Sandy is very attached to her hometown. In the same episode, Sandy began feeling homesick and was preparing to return to Texas.

If anyone makes fun of her love for Texas, she tends to become very angry. When SpongeBob and Patrick insulted Texas, Sandy got very offended and started attacking them.

Besides Karen and Plankton, Sandy is one of the show’s most mature and smartest characters. She doesn’t spend her time goofing around; instead, she uses it to do significant inventions. Sandy is a scientist, and she was sent to Bikini Bottom by Treedome Enterprises to study the lifestyles of sea creatures. In the season 4 episode, “Chimps Ahoy,” it is found that Sandy works under a group of chimpanzees from the land.

They are called Lord Reginald, Dr. Marmalade, and Professor Percy; Dr. Sandy is an inventor capable of making many advanced types of machinery. Amongst her inventions are a teleporter, spaceship, a submarine that can become small enough to go inside a person’s body, and a Protogenerator 2000, which she created in episode “Overbooked” of season 6.

Sandy is exceptionally fond of karate. She is very strong and is mainly seen doing weightlifting alongside his friend, Larry, the Lobster. In the episode “MuscleBob BuffPants,” Sandy wins the anchor lifting competition by throwing the anchor at 510 yards, proving that she is the strongest character in SpongeBob. In multiple episodes, Sandy’s muscular body is shown, resulting from her tough workout, which she does daily in her treedome and outside as well.

Appearance

Outdoor

Sandy 1

When Sandy isn’t in her treedome, she mostly wears her airtight suit. The suit prevents her from getting drowned in water and retaining oxygen. Sandy’s oxygen helmet is wholly made with glass, covers her full head, and has a pink flower on top.

Sandy’s suit has three lines on the sleeves. The middle line is blue, while the other two lines are red. There is a zip in the middle of her suit, and on the right side is a small acorn logo with a yellow background. The suit covers her whole body but not her tail sticking out. Sandy wears light grey shoes with a red circle on the sides.

Indoor

When Sandy is inside her treedome, she is mostly seen wearing a violet bikini. The top is strapless, and the bottom is a short flowy skirt of the same color. Sandy wears no shoes at home and mostly walks barefooted on the grass.

In the nighttime, Sandy wears a loose and plain nightgown. She wears the same nightgown in different colors depending on the episode.

Personality

Sandyyy

Sandy has a very caring and passionate personality. Despite leaving the surface to reside in Bikini Bottom, Sandy has an attachment to her homeland, Texas. She does not tolerate anyone disrespecting Texas and has shown signs of homesickness multiple times.

Throughout various episodes, Sandy portrayed how much she missed Texas and had even made a song for it. When Patrick and SpongeBob would make fun of Texas, Sandy would become angry and violently attack and chase them.

Sandy is introduced as a charming and loving character at the start of the series. She was always willing to help others and has helped SpongeBob multiple times. Sandy is a reliable person who always looks after her friends and believes in them. Although she remained a good friend throughout the series, her crazier side is seen in the later episodes.

In the episode “Prehibernation Week,” Sandy forces SpongeBob to play dangerous games with her, although he is much weaker than her. Sandy is very passionate about sports, and being SpongeBob’s best friend, she would often make him do activities he is not best suited for. When SpongeBob hides from Sandy, she makes the whole town look out for him, making everyone so tired and scared of her that they also go into hiding.

Sandy is highly competitive and prideful of herself. She believes that she is adamant and will do everything to beat the ones in competition with her. Sandy trains hard to become strong, and she believes she is too tough for even the strongest of opponents. Such as when sandy ignored SpongeBob’s warning of the Alaskan Bull Worm in the episode “Sandy, SpongeBob, and the Worm.”

She did not believe SpongeBob and was sure that she would be stronger. Only to regret it later as the Alaskan Bull Worm turned out to be stronger than her. So sandy would put herself and others in danger in many situations only to prove that she is strong.

When Sandy goes into hibernation, her personality completely changes. Sandy becomes a sleepy and angry creature in the episode “Survival of the Idiots.” When she encounters SpongeBob and Patrick, she believes they are Pinhead Larry and Dirty Dan from her dreams and begins violently attacking them. In addition, sandy grew much larger in her hibernation form, making her an even more dangerous person.

Although Sandy can be very obsessive, competitive, and prideful, she is still one of the smartest characters in the series. Sandy never hesitates to go out of her way to help her friends. Her excellent treatment and loyalty towards her friends make her friends value her so much.

Natural Talents and Special Abilities

• Science knowledge: Sandy is a scientist and has made many inventions, thanks to her extensive scientific knowledge. Throughout the series, Sandy was seen conducting multiple experiments. Sandy’s scientific knowledge is why she was able to settle in Bikini Bottom even though she is a land creature.
• Body Building: In the episode “MuscleBob BuffPants,” Sandy shows her humongous muscles. Sandy has an extensive training routine, which very few people can do. She has a complete gym machine set up in her treedome and works often. Despite being shorter than Larry, the Lobster, Sandy is stronger than him as he loses against her in the 8th Annual Anchor Toss competition.
• Karate: Sandy is the best in karate amongst all the characters in SpongeBob SquarePants. Her Karate skills allow her to beat opponents much larger than her.
• Cooking: Sandy is a stunt chef who can quickly cook food using multiple tricks. Her talent led to Mr. Krabs hiring her to perform tricks alongside SpongeBob.
• Singing: Sandy is a very talented singer. In the episode “Texas,” Sandy sings a song because she was missing Texas, and that song is enough to show her talent.
• Guitar: Sandy plays the guitar when she is singing. She perfectly knows how to use a guitar and was appointed as the lead guitarist in the “Band Geeks” episode.

Remarks About Sandy Cheeks

Sandy Cheeks is a very well-written character in SpongeBob. She is shown as a brilliant and powerful character, yet she loves and respects her friends. Sandy has mood swings and can turn from goofy to angry very quickly. Sandy is sensitive towards a few things, such as Texas, and joking about Texas can quickly change her mood.

Nevertheless, Sandy is a friendship everyone deserves to have. She is kind, caring, and helpful. She is that one friend you could call up during an emergency, and she would show up. However, it’s best not to approach her when she is hibernating because that can put you in danger.

Sandy has often put SpongeBob in danger, but she is also why he had fun moments. She is a character worthy of being SpongeBob’s best friend.
